2014 Honda Odyssey Wins AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Award

2015_Honda_Odyssey_Touring_Elite_04The 2014 Honda Odyssey is the highest rated Minivan in AutoPacific’s 2014 Ideal Vehicle Award research. The Odyssey designers did a great job giving the consumers what they want. In fact, the Odyssey has won AutoPacific’s Ideal Vehicle Award in four of the last six years and AutoPacific’s Vehicle Satisfaction Award in three of those years.  The Odyssey is at the top against an impressive fleet of minivans including the Chrysler Town & Country, Toyota Sienna, Ford Transit Connect, Dodge Grand Caravan, Nissan Quest, and the Mazda5.

2014 Honda Odyssey owners are satisfied with their vehicle and do not want much change. Of the fifteen categories in the Ideal Vehicle survey, the 2014 Honda Odyssey led in one category and was within three percentage points of seven more.

The top five highest ratings by 2014 Honda Odyssey owners are: same wheels, same exterior size, same tires, same ride/handling, and same interior lighting.

There were several things Odyssey owners would like changed. Owners would like more interior storage, more power and acceleration, more safety features, and better driver visibility. Owners would also like a new information and entertainment system. While 54% of Odyssey owners want the same info/entertainment system.  The remainder were pretty evenly divided on whether they wanted a more sophisticated system or a simpler one – twenty-two percent would like a more advanced system while twenty-four percent would like a simpler system.

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid Wins AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Award

The all new 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid is the highest scoring Hybrid/EV Truck in AutoPacific’s 2014 Ideal Vehicle Award research. The product development team at Subaru developed a Hybrid/truck that provides the attributes the target buyers want.  Owners want very little change. The XV Crosstrek was at the top against some impressive Hybrid/EV Trucks including the Lexus RX 450h, Toyota Highlander HEV, Toyota Prius v, and the Toyota RAV4 EV.

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid owners are satisfied with their vehicle and did not want much change. Of the fifteen categories in the Ideal Vehicle question battery, the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek leads in seven categories and is within three percentage points of one more.

The top five highest ratings by Subaru XV Crosstrek owners are: the ease of getting in and out, same exterior size, same tires, same exterior styling, and the same wheels as now.

No vehicle is perfect. Subaru XV Crosstrek owners would like a more advanced information and entertainment system.  Owners would also like more cargo space, more interior storage, and better visibility from the drivers seat.

2014 Toyota Highlander Wins AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Award

The all new 2014 Toyota Highlander is the highest scoring Premium Mid-Size Crossover SUV in AutoPacific’s 2014 Ideal Vehicle Award research. Highlander’s designers, planners and engineers knew what consumers wanted and gave it to them. The Toyota Highlander leads its category against some big name vehicles such as the Ford Explorer, Honda Crosstour, Honda Pilot, Chevrolet Equinox, and the Subaru Outback.  The 2014 Toyota Highlander also had a convincing win in its category in AutoPacific’s 2014 Vehicle Satisfaction Award research.

Toyota Highlander owners are satisfied with their vehicle and did not want it much different. Of the fifteen categories in the Ideal Vehicle question battery, the Toyota Highlander led in one category and was within three percentage points of four categories.  This shows how close the results were.  Highlander edged out second place Ford Explorer by a nose.

The top five highest ratings by 2014 Toyota Highlander owners are: same wheels, same exterior size, same ride/handling, same passenger room, and same interior lighting as now.

No vehicle is perfect and although the Highlander led in its category there are several things owners would like to change. Owners would like better driver visibility, more advanced information and entertainment system, more interior storage, and more safety features.

2014 Ford Expedition/EL Wins AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Award

The 2014 Ford Expedition/EL is the highest scoring Luxury/Large SUV in AutoPacific’s 2014 Ideal Vehicle Award research. The big truck team at Ford knew exactly what their customers wanted and gave it to them. The Expedition EL led its category against some impressive competitors such as the GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Tahoe, Toyota Sequoia, Chevrolet Suburban, Nissan Armada, and the Toyota Land Cruiser.  Ford’s big SUVs swept the Luxury/Large SUV category with Expedition EL, Expedition and Navigator one, two, three.

Expedition/EL owners truly did not want their vehicle changed. Of the fifteen categories in the Ideal Vehicle question battery, the 2014 Ford Expedition/EL led or tied in six satisfaction categories and was within three percentage points of another three.

The top five highest ratings by Expedition/EL owners are: same exterior size, same wheels, same safety features, same interior lighting, and same visibility as now.

Although the Expedition/EL is at the top there are several things owners would change. Owners would like a more relaxed drivers seat, more advanced technology, and would like it to be easier to get in and out of the vehicle.  With the upcoming 2015 model year, these vehicles finally get up-to-date with MyFordTouch and an EcoBoost V6 powertrain.

2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Wins AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Award

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 is the highest scoring Light-Duty Pickup in AutoPacific’s 2014 Ideal Vehicle Award research. Even though the vehicle has been criticized in some circles because of the evolutionary and conservative change to its exterior styling, the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 product development team knew what their consumers wanted and met their requirements. The 2014 Sierra 1500 leads its category against some impressive light duty pickup trucks such as the Honda Ridgeline, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra, and the Nissan Frontier.  The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 also won its category in AutoPacific’s 2014 Vehicle Satisfaction Award research.

Owners of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 are pleased with their vehicle and do not want many changes. Of the fifteen categories in the Ideal Vehicle survey, the GMC Sierra 1500 leads or ties in five categories and is within three percentage points of another five.

The top five highest ratings by 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 owners are: same cargo space, same exterior size, same passenger room, same exterior styling (so clearly owners are not demanding different styling), and same wheels as now.

Sierra 1500 owners did want several things changed with the vehicle. Owners would like a simpler information and entertainment system, more power and acceleration, and different interior lighting.  Owners would also like it to be easier to get in and out of the vehicle.

2014 Buick Verano Wins AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Award

The 2014 Buick Verano is the highest scoring Premium Compact Car in AutoPacific’s 2014 Ideal Vehicle Award research. The creators at Buick did a great job listening to what their customers wanted.  The Verano is at the top of its category against some impressive competitors such as the Volkswagen GTI, Acura ILX, Mercedes-Benz CLA, Subaru Impreza WRX, and the Mitsubishi EVO.  The Verano was second in Vehicle Satisfaction Award research trailing the winning Mercedes-Benz CLA by 8-rating points.

The satisfied Buick Verano owners do not want much change. Of the fifteen categories in the Ideal Vehicle survey, the 2014 Buick Verano led or tied eight categories and was within three percentage points of one more.

The top five highest ratings by Buick Verano owners are: same interior lighting, same wheels, same exterior lighting, same ride/handling, and same safety features as now.

Although the Buick Verano is at the top there are several things owners would change. Owners would like  better visibly from the drivers seat, more passenger room, simpler information and entertainment system, and more interior storage.  Forty percent of owners felt very strongly about wanting it to be easier to get in and out of the vehicle.

2014 Acura RLX Wins AutoPacific Ideal Vehicle Award

The 2014 Acura RLX is the highest scoring Executive Luxury Car in AutoPacific’s 2014 Ideal Vehicle Award research. The RLX designers, planners and engineers knew exactly what their target buyers wanted and designed the RLX to meet those needs. The Acura RLX is at the top of the list against a strong group of executive luxury entries such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series, Cadillac CTS Sedan, Volvo S80 and the Audi A6.  RLX sells in such small numbers but, even with small sales, the car scores well in AutoPacific’s IVA research battery.

RLX owners clearly did not want their vehicle any different. Of the fifteen categories in the Ideal Vehicle questionnaire, the 2014 Acura RLX led in five satisfaction categories and was within three percentage points of another two.

The top five highest ratings by RLX owners are: same passenger room, same exterior size, same seat fit, same wheels, and the same cargo space.

Every vehicle cannot be perfect. RLX owners want more distinctive exterior styling than what they have now as well as more interior storage compartments. RLX owners also wants simpler information and entertainment technology.  The RL and RLX have always been technology laden products, but their technology has gone beyond what their owners can cope with.

2014 Infiniti QX80 Wins AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Award

The 2014 Infiniti QX80  is the highest scoring Luxury/Large SUV in AutoPacific’s 2014 Vehicle Satisfaction Award research. Behind the QX80 are some very impressive competitors: the Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LS, Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Expedition, and the GMC Yukon.  This is the second year in a row QX80 has won the VSA for its class.

The 2014 Infiniti QX80 wins or ties in twelve of fifty satisfaction attributes. The QX80 is within one tenth of a rating point in thirteen other attributes. For fifty percent of the satisfaction measurements the QX80 is on top.

The top ten highest ratings by QX80 owners are: vehicle and brand reputation, exterior and interior styling, the overall quality and seating capacity, the perception of reliability and dependability, the vehicles ride, feeling safe while driving, and the exterior color.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Wins AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Award

In the “This is Getting Boring Category”, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the highest scoring Mid-Size SUV in AutoPacific’s 2014 Vehicle Satisfaction Award research. This is the fourth year in a row Grand Cherokee has won the award.  The Grand Cherokee edges out some very impressive vehicles such as the Toyota 4Runner, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Jeep Wrangler, and the Nissan Xterra.

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee wins and ties in thirty-three of fifty categories. The Grand Cherokee is within one tenth of a satisfaction rating point in ten other attributes. Jeep’s Grand Cherokee led in just over eighty five percent of the satisfaction categories.

The top ten highest ratings by Grand Cherokee owners are: exterior and interior styling, handling and braking, exterior color and size, the feel of the fabrics and materials, feeling safe while driving, the vehicles ride, and that it is fun to drive.

2014 BMW X5 Wins AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Award

The 2014 BMW X5 is the highest scoring Premium Luxury Crossover SUV in AutoPacific’s 2014 Vehicle Satisfaction Award research. Just behind the X5 is the Lincoln MKT followed by the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GL, Porsche Cayenne and the Mercedes-Benz ML.

The 2014 BMW X5 demonstrates its excellence by winning or tying in thirty-seven of fifty satisfaction attributes. The X5 also comes within one tenth of a rating point with seven other satisfaction attributes. For eighty-eight percent of the data, the X5 is at the top.

The top ten highest ratings by X5 owners are: handling and braking, brand and vehicle reputation, fun to drive, safety rating and features, overall quality, the perception of reliability and dependability, and feeling safe while driving.
