BMW 1 Series Arrives Plus Cabrio Update

0

This week, BMW dealers across the United States began receiving the initial run of the new BMW 1 Series Coupe. Previewed on video (watch) by AutoPacific during the Los Angeles International Auto Show, the coupe looks even better on the showroom floor. While some dealers greed factor could be seen on the window sticker (between $2,000 and $5,000 over sticker), the real sales prices are more likely to be at or near the manufacturers price ($28,600 MSRP for the 128i ).

The 1 Series represents a significant step for BMW. As the 3 Series has become larger with each new edition, room has opened up at the bottom of the model range for a new addition. And the 1 Series is only new in America – European models being available since 2004. The 1 Series is currently the only vehicle in its class featuring rear-wheel drive and a longitudinally-mounted engine

Video Reviews, Test Drives, and Opinion from VehicleVoice

Video is rapidly becoming an important component for any new, magazine, or entertainment website. At VehicleVoice, we’ve been using video for nearly two years and we want to make certain you know how useful and entertaining our video stories can be.
Our video stories are typically fairly short, so you can enjoy them during a coffee break, or while waiting for that report to print. Two recent surveys show that more than three quarters of the people who use the Internet watch an hour or more of video every week. And, a huge percentage of that audience takes advantage of the lunch hour to enjoy the various video clips and stories now being posted everywhere from CNN to political campaigns to your own private website — to, yup, right here at VehicleVoice.

This week on Let’s Talk Cars, a very special treat, not just for our lucky test driver, but for you, the viewer! VehicleVoice correspondent David Barrett got a chance to take a Ferrari 360 Spyder on the Southern California test track at El Toro. When he caught his breath, he took out the new Corvette Z06 for a spin and a little comparison. I tried to hold the camera steady in the front seat. It was awesome, and you can experience it yourself right here! If you’re prone to motion sickness, take your medicine.

In the something a little bit tamer category, next we bring you a review of Ford’s Explorer Sport Trac, the most innovative member of the Explorer family.

And finally, we do a little reading. Yeah, I said reading. After all those engines revving and tires smoking, can you blame me? A new book by automotive luminaries Charlie Hughes and William Jeanes takes on the American Automotive Industry. It’s called Branding Iron and we got a chance to ask the authors about the book’s message and the future of such companies as Ford and GM.

This week VehicleVoice introduces you to the automotive research firm responsible for the Vehicle Satisfaction Award. The analysts and experts of AutoPacific spend most of their time at their offices in Southern California and Detroit, doing the kind of comprehensive research that makes car companies sit up and listen. They’ve influenced new car designs and new product introductions for the past two decades. And we’re letting you have a peak behind the curtain this week, into the Automotive Future’s Center of AutoPacific. For the first time, you get to see the experience a consumer goes through in a product evaluation clinic where they actually get to drive the products.
Also on tap, more gadgets, but this time we introduce you to two products specifically designed for motorcycles.
Our three featured stories come from AutoPacific, TomTom and Delphi.
