1. How do I become a panelist?
To become a VehicleVoice panel member, simply click on Join! on the menu bar. You will be brought to the Panel Member Profile Survey. After you complete the survey your membership will be activated.

2. Why do I need to complete a member profile survey?
We ask information about your demographics (gender, age, etc.), geographic location (zip code), interests and vehicle ownership to create a panel of members that will represent the population as a whole. Of course, any profile information you provide is always kept confidential and is never looked at on an individual basis.

3. Why do you ask for information about all the members of my household on my member profile?
We ask for this information to get an accurate profile of the population as a whole. When you answer one of our surveys, you are representing all households with a similar profile. The information you provide is far richer if we understand more about the composition of your household.

4. Which email address should I use to participate in your research?
We recommend that you use your PRIMARY email address. By primary, we mean the one address you use and access most often.

5. Can more than one person in my household sign up to be a member?

Technical

1. What computer technology do I need to participate in surveys?
For most of our surveys, all you need is an Internet connection to take our surveys. Occasionally, our surveys require additional technology that you may or may not possess, such as Quicktime or Windows Media Player. In those cases, the survey invitation will specify any technology requirements. If your computer lacks the required technology, feel free to wait to take part in a future study that does not require these features.

For your convenience, here are links to useful, free software to download:

* Internet Explorer

* Netscape

* QuickTime

2. How do I address any technical problems I encounter while taking a survey?
Unfortunately, we occasionally experience technical problems with our servers or surveys. From time to time, our servers may become overloaded when too many people try to access a survey at the same time. If you can’t access or it takes too long to complete a particular survey, you can always exit and finish the survey at a later time.

If you are experiencing a technical problem, please feel free to contact the Survey Help Desk. The Survey Help Desk will determine what the problem is and help you access the survey, or, at least, explain what is happening.

3. Which browser works best?
We recommend using Netscape or Internet Explorer (non-AOL version) to view our surveys. We encourage AOL users to use one of those two browsers when participating in VehicleVoice Online surveys.

4. Why are you using cookies?
We use cookies to maintain information about the current survey “session”. These cookies are only for our members’ convenience and we never store any confidential information on them.

Cookies temporarily store the responses you enter into your survey. For example, in the event that an Internet connection is lost, all you would need to do is click your browser’s back button to return to the survey and the information you just entered would still be there. These cookies are automatically maintained by the web server environment and are not “persistent”.
