AutoPacific: Even though the number of competitors in the crossover SUV segment keeps going up, one of the category’s pioneers won the 2008 Motorist Choice Award®. Lexus RX owners claimed victory with high ratings for ingress/egress and reliability. RX also tops the charts in vehicle reputation and overall satisfaction.
IntelliChoice: The Lexus RX was a 2008 BOVY Winner and a 2008 Vehicle Satisfaction Award winner. The Lexus RX has best-in-class retained value and much better than expected insurance costs.

AutoPacific: Owners are more comfortable in the driver’s seat of a Lexus ES than in any other vehicle in the segment. This – in addition to highly rated instrumentation, controls and ride – earned ES a 2008 Motorist Choice Award®. Also adding to the victory were high marks for ride and innovative technology and overall experience.

AutoPacific: Despite tough competition in the large luxury car segment from vehicles such as Chrysler 300, Mercury Grand Marquis and Toyota Avalon, the Cadillac DTS took home a 2008 Motorist Choice Award®. Owners pointed to how quiet the DTS was from inside the vehicle and gave high marks to its ride, handling and braking. Contributing to the DTS win were the car’s exterior size and innovative technology.

AutoPacific: What does a 2008 Motorist Choice Award®-winning large crossover SUV look like? Owners think it looks like a GMC Acadia. Within its segment, it received the highest marks for image and exterior styling. Acadia also bested the competition in ride and dependability, and owner reported feeling safe while driving.

AutoPacific: In typical Toyota-owner fashion, Sequoia owners gave the vehicle high rankings for brand and vehicle reputation. Those rankings, along with high marks for seat comfort, interior storage and interior build materials, helped blow the competition away and secure a 2008 Motorist Choice Award® for the Toyota Sequoia. Guaranteeing the win were high scores for power, braking, handling and “fun to drive” attributes.

AutoPacific: Typically, large heavy-duty pickups work a lot harder than they play, and the Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 is no exception – it put in some overtime for its owners and won the 2008 Motorist Choice Award® for its class. With a reputation second to none, Silverado was ranked by owners as having superior reliability, dependability, durability and driver’s seat visibility.

The GTI won with high marks for great interior fabrics and materials, along with driver’s-seat comfort and handling. The highest marks for overall satisfaction in the segment helped seal the deal.

AutoPacific: A high “overall satisfaction” rating from owners in the economy compact car segment helped the Honda Fit win the 2008 Motorist Choice Award®. Against some tough competition from the Toyota Yaris, Scion xD, and Nissan Versa the Fit won its class. With top marks in cargo space and flexible interior, the Fit beat out stiff competition Toyota Yaris, Scion xD and Nissan Versa on its way to the top. High scores for both vehicle and brand reputation also helped secure its victory.
IntelliChoice: In a class where fuel costs are just as important has retained value, the Fit stands out for its above-average retained value and second-best fuel costs. In addition, the Fit has the lowest maintenance costs within the class.

AutoPacific: With the highest overall satisfaction rating in the large light-duty pickup segment, the Chevrolet Avalanche wins that segment’s 2008 Motorist Choice Award®. Contributing to the win were owners’ ratings for the changeable interior and cargo space — a finding that lends credence to Avalanche’s functionality-enhancing ‘midgate’ design. The Avalanche also scored higher than any other full-size truck in terms of vehicle ride and driver’s seat visibility.

AutoPacific: The all-new Nissan Rogue was a hit with owners, who declared it a 2008 Motorist Choice Award® winner. Ratings for exterior size, ingress/egress and interior materials beat out its competitors, many of which are on their second or third generation of vehicles. Drivers also gave the Rogue top ratings for braking, power, ride, handling and being fun to drive.
IntelliChoice: The Nissan Rogue is a strong model in a very competitive class. The Rogue has an above average retained value, fuel costs and maintenance costs.
