At the Los Angeles Auto Show this year, small was big. So it’s no wonder that BMW has brought its smallest production car to the United States. And in this greenest of auto shows, it’s no wonder BMW introduced it in Los Angeles.
The BMW 1 Series looks just like a BMW, only smaller. Its shape, its interior, its leg room, and even its trunk make you think of a much larger car. But unlike larger BMW’s, the 1 Series starts at less than $30,000.
In the Coupe, American drivers will have their choice of 128i and the 135i. The 128i is powered by a 3.0-liter, 230 horsepower inline 6-cyinder engine that generates 200 lb-ft of torque. The 135i features BMW’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque.
David Barrett’s already got his picked out.
