GM appears to be ready to announce that it will begin importing the Holden Commodore 4-door sedan as the Pontiac G8. This car would fill the spot vacated by the front wheel drive Pontiac Bonneville. Rear wheel drive and powered by a V8 engine, the Commodore would cap a newly sporting Pontiac lineup.
In early December, Ford hosted an event that allowed VehicleVoice and AutoPacific staffers to peek into the future for Ford, Mercury and Lincoln vehicles. One of the more intriguing presentations had to do with the future design direction of their Lincoln brand.
It has been known for some time that Chrysler Group and Chery Automobile Company of Wuhu, China were negotiating for Chery to build a B-Segment car for Chrysler. It appears that the companies have now reached an agreement and all that is left is the approval by the various Chinese governmental bodies and the DaimlerChrysler Board.

Retaining the basic hardpoints the Lincoln is has more curves - yep, going back to those seven Lincoln design elements Horbury has been selling. It has a relatively fast rear end that comes across as much more appropriate for the luxury end of the business.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has just released their first crash ratings for Economy Compact Cars. They call them "minicars". The IIHS often releases results like this to pressure car makers to achieve higher safety results than are required by the Federal Government (NHTSA). Being part of the insurance industry, the IIHS charter is to provide information that consumers can use to select a safer car or light truck - and hence a car that might generate lower personal injury claims in an accident.
